I can't stand 3d. really can't. wish it would die. just go away. leave me alone. stop asking for more money and giving me a headache. leave. let me watch a nice photographic frame in peace. :)

Is 3D really worth the trouble and cost... ? 3d does not tell a better story, but post is twice as much to do so... Some one has to explain to me the logic and cost benefits weighing up the turn over and profits. The same amount of people would have watched Prometheus in 2d if that's all it came out in. Right... So why spend 30% more in making it.?

The 3d on Prometheus was a lot better than most other movies Ive watched... except for AVATAR.

It looks pretty flat and non color "treated" to me. I guess that is what the director wanted? I am not really a fan of anything that looks like "reality"....I guess I just like my images to take me away....to a land other then here. :)

totally agree. I wear glasses, so i've never gotten a good 3D experience wearing double glasses. I find it weird looking and often dizzying. That said, when i was able to get the glasses level to my eyes, the 3D in the RED booth @ NAB was outstanding. But again impractical for me to watch for more than a few minutes.

It was finished in 2K only.

Btw 3D is awesome thing, but it is still waiting for its best films yet.
Unfortunately its not for everybody, lots of people is struggling with their 3D perception in their normal life.

I like a good 3D presentation, but I've barely seen a handful until now.
While 3D acquisition and post production works quite well these days, 3D exhibition doesn't. Badly calibrated projectors and horribly low brightness values are the major issue right now. Bring on those Red Projectors!

Worked on Flight (both on EPK unit and as a day player on production) and was very impressed at the choices Mr Burgess (es.. his son is frequently a camera operator on his projects) and Mr Zemekis made... I saw that the Epic's form factor was very useful for their creative ideas.
I am on a lot of BTS units, and seldom see as concious and effective use of tools in storytelling.
I have been working BTS on some other studio projects using RED and Alexa (and film).... and cant tell you about them till the trailers drop...
Have not seen a 3D project from BTS yet... Only from a theater seat...

There's a certain "Green Mile" vibe on this one. With "Hitchcock", could this be another RED potential Oscar contender?

Saw a screening of Flight last night. Loved the cinematography, coloring and palette. Intense story. Robert Zemeckis said he loved the Epic camera in the Q&A at the end.
