Sometimes if one clip has decode errors, the clips that follow will give errors even if the source files aren't corrupt. The solution is to quit RCX, then reload and render the clips again.

Reading from and/or writing to USB drives is asking for trouble. The problems you run into will mostly likely be inconsistent, so it makes sense to use the right hardware and avoid unnecessary surprises.
