    Hello

I been editing a 2 minutes long trailer shoot with a red one. I did this in FC, and use compressor, that quality I can get is far from the original. What would the best encoder or the best way to create a DVD, itīs only 2 minutes long

adobe encoder? bitvice or any other? cinemacraft encoder looks good, its maybe worthit to encode with a PC ? also my dvdsp usually gives me problems , is there any other pro software for DVD?

    Best regards

I've gotten visibly better results with Adobe Media Encoder than Compressor when using the same bitrate - and more importantly for my use, AME does the encoding in a fraction of the time Compressor takes. And if you're using a preset for encoding you should make sure you're using all the bandwidth available. On both Compressor and AME the video bitrate of the presets can be quite safely raised if you're using AC3 audio.

Media encoder has consistently outperformed fcp. However the higher the bit rate the more chance youll have some commercial DVD players stall or present some glitch.

For maximum compatibly, don't go over a CBR of 9Mbps (i think 12 is the limit in the spec) use AC3 audio

do i have to encode first and then encore? like in apple compressor and DVDSP, or I can go directly to encore.

    I am having some problems

I export mov files from AP and the resulting file is a dark video with very high contrast
I export uncompressed video and the result is the same
I transcode the 4 k files in red cine to proress 444 and the mov file is the same dark and high contrast,

so far the only workflow is working for me is transcoding in FC to 422 hq, but then when i export i get the dark video again. I am using a 2008 imac, 2,4ghz intel dual core and 4 gb Ram

To edit in AP, i make a 1080 sequence and then import the 4K files, using motion scale i go from 100 to 43 to fit the clips in the viewe and then render all, is this the way to edit 4K in 1080?

    best regards

9.8 is the limit for audio+video, so yeah, 9Mbps+448kbps AC3 is the highest I'd recommend, too.

UGH. You have no idea. I work for a fairly-sizeable company. And many of the shows/conventions that we attend, our booth is manned by DVDs. 20 HDTVs, all blaring SD DVDs. It's just within the past few months that this is shifting towards BluRays (and if I don't ask "Hey, do you need DVDs, or do you need BluRays?" they never look into it and just use the term "DVD" like it's a magical word for any type of disc).

And don't get me started on how everyone insists on using WMVs inside PowerPoint decks, and how some people are incapable of playing back a simple .mov file . . .

AAAAAhhhhh.. yes the old, I cant play it... I want a MEPG or a WMV from the 90's! to watch. Absolute shit quality! compared to a H264 quicktime. It's like people will download torrents and software for all sorts of shit, but wont download QUICKTIME for the PC's... I here ya nick. We have the same problem very single day. The only thing that saves us now.. is YOU TUBE and VIMEO... Anyone with a link with any web browser can watch a HD movie through these two Video sites. All i can say is thank goodness. But trying to make a single one video file that anyone and everyone can play in the computers si almost impossible.

Comes down to Mathematics... 90% of homes have a DVD player, and 25% of homes have blu-ray players. On the retail side almost 75% of all discs sold are DVDs.
