Been trying to figure out why this is happening, CS5.5 was solid but I'm running into import problems on CS6.

    Mac / Lion
    CS6 ( Recent update )
Red Epic Importer / Old and New versions
    Red Epic Previous Release Firmware
All the files are fine, none are damaged play in Red Cine X as well as in Premiere when imported.

    Here's the issue :

On folder imports I'll sometimes get all the R3Ds failing to import, sometimes only two or three and then sometimes none. It takes restarting Premiere to try to bring in more files, which then it sometimes doesn't work. Totally unrepeatable for specific files or failures, but I can't seem to get all of the footage into the project. Project is 2TB of R3Ds, would that matter?

Anyone at Adobe or on here have this problem or a way to fix it. Tried importing the classic method with Import as well as using the Media Browser.

If anyone has any info it'd be a huge help!

    Thank you!

Wow another San Diego Red User! Cool... If I was to make a wild guess I would say that you have both the new and old importer in the application bundle? When you updated to labs to you remember move the old plugin to your desktop or someone else out side of the app bundle?

    Cheers

    Hey Dave,

Yeah, in San Diego, studio is in Barrio Logan!

So I checked, and unless there is one hiding in a different spot than CS5.5, then the old one is moved out. Followed those instructions exactly when using the new importer. The workaround I have for the moment is quitting out once it starts failing and then opening again and re-importing...oddly that works fine and I have all my footage in now.

Any info regarding this work be helpful, could be a bug?

Everything else Adobe is doing with Red is great, keep up the great work! Switched to Premiere about 7 months ago and haven't looked back, Dynamic Link between AE is incredible!

Thanks for the quick response and help!

    Hi David,

Great to see you on the forum. Desperately seeking a solution here:

We have encountered the same problem as Charles' case. We thought we had solved it by uninstalling CS5.5.

(We have been filming lots of 5K HD; some long takes)

    - However, the problem seems to be present still. The media browser says "Unsupported format or damaged file".

I tried to import it through import in the Project panel, but got the strange issue that the file A006_C001_06234Q_001.R3D gave a 2 minute clip, while the C001_06234Q_002.R3D gave the full 10 minute long clip.

I tried clearing the media cache, but that did not help. Next I searched for ImporterREDServer on the entire disk (sudo find / -name ImporterRED*), and found the files in many locations (as expected I guess), but I noticed that the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/dynamiclinkmediaserver/1.0/dinamiclinkmediaserver.app/Contents/ImporterREDServer.app was version 6.0.0, while the one in /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.app/Contents/ImporterREDServer.app was version 6.0.1.

Could this be the reason? Is it safe to manually replace the one under Library?

    Best regards,
    Øyvind and Fredrik

Has anybody else made any progress on this? I had a bunch of files that were all linked up, categorized, named, etc. One day I opened up the project and a bunch of them were unlinked, and when I try to relink them it tells me the file is unsupported or damaged... same if I try to simply reimport. Very weird and incredibly frustrating. They open fine in Redcine.

    Same problem here.
It happened few times with CS5.5 and several times with CS6.
Initially I thought it could have been a conflict between old and new installer, but I checked and everything seems fine.

I also noticed that with long R3D files, split into 2 or more files, Premier does not accept the first file. For example:
Link Media to 'A016_C004_1006CB_001.R3D only recognize A016_C004_1006CB_002.R3D (which is still the same file, but it links with a wrong clip name)

I switched to Premiere CS two years ago and I find project manager extremely unstable, making impossible to work with two different machines on the same project.

Same issue over here, this is deeply troubling.

I have been working on a project with native EPIC R3D files for a couple of months. I haven’t it touched the project for a couple weeks; the computer and drive were turned off and disconnected properly. No files were moved, drive letter and paths all still the same.

However, now when I load the project a few weird things happen:
    1. It says it loads all media, yet when I play the timelime it indicates half my files are offline.
    2. It does not prompt me when I load the project that I have offline files and to reconnect them.
    3. When I try to reconnect the R3Ds manually premiere gives me “Unsupported of Damaged File” error. The files play back fine in RedCine X.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
