Placed my order last night finally. Just getting a basic Scarlet package, but it's still unreal. Didn't think I'd ever be owning my own RED. Can't imagine what it'll feel like once it finally gets here. Was it the same for you guys the first time you purchased a RED personally?

You are truly going to love it. I have nearly 100 hours on mine and I still get excited to "play" with it every day I pick it up. Congratulations.

So what does a basic Scarlet package now cost?

Ummm I'm probably even below "basic" to most standards, but In the end It will be about $25k I put towards it. Was a small inheritance from a passing family member.
Ended up with the Scarlet/SSD Canon AL, Top handle, 5" touch monitor, Side Handle and batteries, 2 128gb cards, red rocket to go in the Mac Pro we have, and a couple lenses. Think thats about it.
Hopefully I'll be able to use this to build onto it.

I'd spend a "Rocket part" of money on something else.
Modern Intel processors paired with Nvidia CUDA cards can be a very powerful combo. And a lot more cost effective.

Welcome on board !
I never thought I could use the scarlett for EVERYTHING (photo, video, Web, etc.). The R3D is incredibly easy to use today.
