This looks ingenious. Anyone have any reviews, more details or prices? Looks like it also converts the HDMI to another SDI port. I'm not nuts about the new Red Pro I/O Box. I'm curious about the comparison between Red's and Otto Nementz.

    Here's the link.

Bad news. Joe Rome at Otto Nementz informed me their accessories are not for sale. They just made for their own rental inventory. So who out there wants to make a box like theirs.

Yes. We really need professional, industry standard power distribution on the camera, and plugs need to be accessible to assistants... these things are plugged in and out dozens of times per day, and they are so hard to get to, and in totally the wrong position.

I am really looking for a 3rd party solution that solves these very real and very frustrating issues.

(great camera, great pictures, not so great from an AC's point of view).

I like what innocinmea is doing in terms of accessible design but it doesn't solve Epic's biggest I/o issues - lack of an extra EVF and sdi out. The new Red I/O module does but at both a steep financial and size price. It would be nice to make a smaller I/o module by eliminating sound inputs. This would be ideal for those of us in commercial, Episodic and feature production. Sound doesn't need our on camera Recording.

What Otto N did that is clever is they hacked the HDMI and converted that out into another sdi out. Also they understand that 12 bolt Lemo connections should be as close to your iris rod as possible - not at the back of thecameras like the Epic I/o module. I almost wish RED had a "cine" I/o that makes no concessions to ENG style or doc shooting and gives us just what we need and where we need it - (3) Lemo 12 volt, 1 EVF , 1 SDI, gen Lock and D tap at the front of the camera.

That's great but does it solve the # 1 and 2 problems: Extra SDI and extra EVF connection? If it doesn't do that what's the point?

If I'm not mistaken Otto's breakout box that has an extra hd/sdi port is essentially hdmi to hd/sdi thus there should be a delay. I could be wrong...maybe they've updated it. I wanna be clear that I'm speculating from what I've heard from others who have used their breakout box and that I've never personally used it, and from my understanding it does not have an extra evf/ lcd port.

Developing/ making an accessory that offers an extra evf/ lcd port is not impossible but Red has patents on some stuff that would be involved in doing so.

I thought there was a new slim rear mounted LCD/EVF port coming. Was its rear SSD too. Its essential this happens soon. Perhaps this in conjunction with Innocinema kit would be ideal.
