Maybe try replacing the new antenna with the old/original & see if that works again?
I would hazard to guess that the connection on the antenna and the cable is at fault here. I had the same issue, I had to pull the new antennae out (not an easy task, take it slow) to find that the cable dropped off the connector to the antenna. Turns out it needs a pretty hard squeeze to get the thing to click on. Make sure its lined up well before trying to pop it on, looking at it you could knacker the connector on the cable pretty easily if its crooked when you try to squeeze it on. Mine works pretty well, I'm now getting 50' + through 2 walls before the signal disappears.
I have done the install too. My RedMote connects.
But I still have a very limited range.
Up to 2 feet away, I get full green bars.
More than 3 feet away I only have yellow or red bars.
Oliver, we received the email you sent to upgrades@red.com this morning and we will walk you through troubleshooting this issue.

This is the expected performance ... so if you have a unit that does not deliver at least that after performing the antennae upgrade, then connect RED tech support...... the connection is lasting up to 50 feet away in my tests...
Have you tried doing the "Rediscover Hardware" in the "maintenance" portion of the menus???
Apparences can be deceptive Andrae :-)Do you know why the old design was a board with circuits and this one is just a plain aluminum antenna?
... the bottom line is the "uncertain range issue" ascribed to the REDmote, is in fact resolved here.
