    Rory,

I am sorry to hear about your problem. I have been making dailies / etc. with REDCINE-X, Avid MC 5.x 9 weeks this year more or less exactly like the other gentlemen described: export MXF / AAF DNxHD36 / 1080p from redcine-x (pro), move the created MXF to the AVID MEDIAFILES/MXF/1 folder and import the AAF to a bin. If you put new MXF in the MEDIAFILES Folder Avid sorts it out while starting up, as soon as you import the AAF the media is online. you don't need to move the AAF anywhere, only the MXF.

have to you tried to export a Quicktime DNxHD from redcine-x and (fast) import this file to Avid?
is there a avid media database in your Mediafiles Folder?

have you tried to delete your mediadatabase and restart Mediacomposer?

    all the best,
    martin

is there some plugin that needs to be installed for Avid to read MXF DNxHD files coming from RedCineXPro?

I honestly just can't figure out why this won't work.

    Hey guy,
I'm on a shoot right now and the producer has a what is probably a simple question for all you (but for me, not so much). We've shot Epic R3D files and Alexa ProRes 4444 files and need to edit them in the same sequence on Avid. Also we plan to color correct on a Baselight. What's the procedure for doing the edit and final color correction with the native files?

Transcode both via Resolve, or R3D in REDCINE X and ProRes LogC with 709 LUT in Resolve. Both applications use Avid's SDK for native MXF wrapped DNxHD so metadata will be consistent; filename will be listed in the TAPE column. Final conform and correction will be done via EDL or AAF into Baselight pointing back to the original files.

Thanks, Michael, I think that's what we're after....A way to color correct the R3D's.

    Rory,

One thing you might just try is making sure to copy/paste the MXF files generated by RCX into the AVID mediafiles folder, rather than cut/paste. It took me ages to work out that this seemed to be a necessary condition, at least on my system.

I have posted about this before but no one has been able to explain why, might be worth a quick try though.

    Cheers,

    Chris

thanks Chris... unfortunately that didn't help me as its still can't import the RCX files and show them in Avid.
    Hopefully Michael can help me.

Just set up a time where I can Skype and share desktop and show you how it's done, or watch and see what you're doing.
