I was using clipfinder for red and it rocked but that is no longer an option. pomforts silverstack makes reports but I dont think there are any thumbnails in the reports. If silverstack does do thumbnails please let me know how.

Why don't you ask Pomfort about adding it? They are listening!

The LightIron Server can do this. Granted, I think you have to feed lower sized H264s into it, but if you are already creating those as part of your dailies routine, the LightIron Server will spit out a report with thumb nails. The server application is free, and once you set it up, you're just a $10 app away from seeing your footage on an iPad as well.

Might we worth looking in to. Since the server is free, you don't have anything to lose, other than a little time checking it out and seeing if it works for you.

wow, thanks for all the tips guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes my workaround in pomfort is to take screen grabs of the silver stack window where is DOES show the thumbnails. I will email them to see if they can go clipfinder style w their reports and show thumbnails for all the major cameras. You see this post pomfort?!

Maybe this foolcat guy can make his program work for alexa and 5d? hmmmmmm!

Yes, that cube option is nice but if they go off on a second unit shoot w/o me that can get messy with the whole light iron thing don't you think? Good for stage work though.

    thanks!!!

You can use LightIron Server without a Teradek Cube. The Teradek will auto write small H264s to a designated folder if you set it up correctly (which can take some tweaking to get right; took me about a full day to get ours working). But that's only one of the ways to provide LightIron Server with H264s.

If creating H264s is part of your daily deliverables, as they are for some productions, then all you have to do is put a copy of them into the designated folder for LightIron Server, and then LightIron Server can print you out the PDF that you're looking for.

If you're not already creating H264s, then maybe something like FoolCat would be a better way to go. Unfortunately, for the workflow that I usually go through when DITing, we don't create H264s, and no one expects PDFs like the ones you're looking for. So that is the extent of my knowledge.

Though, if you do figure out a better solution for this, let me know; I'm always up for checking out new hardware/software.

Din't have much free time at the moment for software dev but I did started to work on a big update for foolcat... First to speed it up dramatically by using XCode and RED SDK instead of applescript / REDLine and also to add quicktime / Alexa support...
And better ways to preview / add metadatas in foolmeta.

Cannot give any date yet but working on it whenever I can... so stay tuned.
