So for the first time I plugged my EPIC into my acer lcd monitor that I had been using for years with my RED ONE, but it's not getting a signal. The monitor only has DVI, so I first tried using an adapter, which didn't work, then using an HDMI to DVI cable, which didn't work either. I figured out that I needed to turn on the HDMI preview, and tried both 1080 and 720, but still no go.

Any suggestion as to why it's not working?

    THANKS! :D

Sure you've done this, but you need to power down then up again after connecting HDMI cable.

Yep, thanks STeve, but I tried restarts between each test. Still nothing.

I have found that the EPIC out puts a weak HDMI signal, It will not push very far. How long was the cable you were testing?

Just posted in another thread about hooking up a 40" TCL screen via HDMI. And I used a long (estimated 10") HDMI cable and it works great.

Just a thought... would changing the refresh setting from 60Hz to automatic make a difference?

EDIT: Revise that cable estimate of 10' to an actual 15'.

10 feet works with me but that's the max...
if you have a monitor which can only accept HDMI like I do, my solution is to get a black magic design HD-SDI to HDMI converter, you can have a very long HD-SDI cable and just put a small HDMI from the converter to your monitor.

look in the Acer manual and determine supported resolutions.

The next beta firmware will support more hdmi resolutions.

The current one claims hdmi 1080p 24 hz, but it's not working correctly.

I tested a special beta, and they do have it working now, so wait until the next release before you give up.

If not, you have a choice of converters from

    http://www.atomos.com/connect/ - battery powered.
    http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mc100/ lots of features

and the black magic device mentioned in an earlier post

You can't use HDMI while using HD-SDI. You need to select in the menu one or the other.
It's a pain and wish they fixed this...
Otherwise, try a different monitor witha HDMI input, a new cable, then if nothing works, contact RED for repair (your HDMI plug can be busted, this things are nor made for pro use, too fragile)
