Heh. I saw that the other day when someone posted the link for their anti-gravity machine joke page. My biggest question is, are they actually serious about that price?
I,m hep. I figure four 120 degree low output leds, a current limiting resistor and a 9 volt battery should run about $8.00. An injected molded housing to replace the one on your Chroesiel or what ever brand for about $10.00 and your on your way. Oh yeah and a push on push off switch mayby $3.00
I don't care! I would buy that in a minute if I could adapt RedRock's Nikkor follow focus gears to it. Can we? I can see it now . . . "Hey! [to hot extra on set] Wanna see how my illuminated focus knob works?" And she'd be like, "Cool! It's like one of those bracelets at a rave!" And I'd be like . . .
That's the 2nd hand price as well if I remember correctly. I looked at them a while ago and seem to recall it being nearer the $1000 mark... crazy. Also if you are working in low light, you've gotta be careful that thing doesn't reflect off of anything you are shooting as it doesn't come with any cover to block it forward facing, although it could be argued matte box etc would block it but still. You'd be better off buying night vision goggles for your AC if it was that big a deal.
