    Dear All,

I need a viewing solution for my clients, when they are in our post-prodution suite.

I have narrowed down to the the following

    Option 01:

    Panasonic TH-50BT300 - USD 3800.00
(Does the stock BNC connections allow 1080p input, if not then the next component)
    with
Panasonic TYFB10HD HD SDI BD with Audio Mounts in Slot 1 or 2 - USD 1400.00
    or
Panasonic TY-FB11DHD Dual Link HD-SDI Board for Panasonic Professional Display (11 or later Series) - USD 2300.00
    or
    Panasonic TY-FB30HD3D Dual HD-SDI Terminal Board (3D Compatible) - USD 2800.00

I am kind of confused what each of the component does, or Should I be ok with the output from BMD Decklink or RED Rocket into the TH-50BT300's factory installed BNC connectors for basic viewing is it possible to get 1080p with 3gb/s SDI input.

    Option 02:
    Panasonic TC-P55VT50 - USD 2700.00
    with
BMD Mini Converters HDSDI to HDMI - USD 295

    Option 03:
a good 2k projector with HDSDI input.

I don't know, what to get. Ultimate aim to get a viewing experience for the client, critical color analysis will be done on FSI 2461W LCD or Sony PVM1741 OLED

We use a BMD Decklink to output to a Sony PVM 1741 which is then passed through to a Panasonic TH-P50VT30Z using a BMD SDI-HDMI converter for client review.
Works great except we've been having issues with the TV not receiving any sound through the converter (I think this may be an isolated problem with our units).
The images on the Panansonic look great under the THX setting and can be calibrated for the room by a professional.

Thanks a lot Johnathan, the calibration cant be done by us?? Or what do we need to keep in consideration when doing it?

Also is the model, TH-P50VT30Z is it as good as the TC-P55VT50???

We use calibrated Panasonic Plasma's for colour grading work, the key is to know the issues with all plasmas with their power management and always colour calibrate the display. We use a blackmagic HD link which has a LUT calibrated for the display. For a client monitor it depends on your budget but I do think you need a HD link or similar to host the LUT from the calibration. Also they will drift particularly in their early couple of hundred hours so you'll need to recheck calibration regularly. Even though colour critical work is being done on another display it still needs to be checked. If you don't you will only end up with the client saying well I prefer the picture on that monitor or this monitor depending on their tastes. So all need to be identical in so far as possible.

Is this 2D or 3D work you are doing ?

As of today there are no two identical monitors... not even same brand and make.. Also it was far easier when we all got CRT. Now you got tons of options out there, oled, led, lcd, plasma and so on... I actually use a samsung plasma for my clientts to view and then have a "grade A led screen" from my flame. Non of those 2 are 100% but it atleast makes things easier than when I had 3 screens pioneer, CRT, and LED... all looking quite different.

I think samsung are quite good, even they are not professional they atleast reperesent what people are viewing out there...

Just to point out if anyone intends to use consumer plasma TVs: Samsung's consumer plasmas have pretty horrible problems with floating blacks and whites. Panasonics don't seem to suffer as much.

Only 2D until we get another EPIC :-)

Any ways, so you are suggesting to get the BMD HDLink, that not only allows the Monitoring on HDMI but also has the LUT calibration???

the samsung leds float aswell but I think the panasonic's float also. try this view a frame of pure white on screen... then jump to a frame of white with a black square in the middle.... then you see that the part of the frame that remains white... does not remain at all. It's like it drops in intensity. This is very common among all large screens and especially the plasmas.
