This might be a dumb question. But what is everyone using for a wireless/wired set up.. Or what can people recommend. I shoot offroad and 95% of the time and I work by myself usualy.. Can anyone recommend a good wireless and wired set up? Thanks

Hy Bryan, I shoot like that all the time on my own. I use a lav on my principle with an Abox on channel 1, and a rode NTG2 on a small arm and shock mount on the top plugged into channel two. Just get a nice Rycote softie for the shotgun. With this new build it looks like you can pan and map channels. If your shooting a single mic off the top, a good idea is to stagger the channels L+R at different levels, so you have a safety if it gets too loud, or too low.

    Good Luck.

the ntg 2 is good, but the ntg 3 is even better and worth the step up. great value. also sennheiser EW 100 G series wireless lav's are great.

    Hi Bryan,

Here is a list of stuff I use.

NTG2 (I would agree with Michael Notar)
    WOODEN C ABOX
SENHEIZER EW 100 G series wireless lav

    To mount it

I have used all others, and they are not good for rugged run and gun. This one holds the mic well and is rugged.
I mount it on an Articulated Mounting Arm 7 (there is 1/4 hole to attach an arm on the azden shock mount.
http://www.dvshop.ca/camera/lcdarmsmounts.html this screws into a top plate. Like the tactical one of View factors.
Also a simple screw on hot shoe is good to have to the wireless mount from the senheizer lav.

Another +1 for the NTG2. Nice that it has internal battery option so you don't have to risk phantom power.

I also have an Audio Technica BP4029 stereo shotgun I sometimes use. Good mic.

Pearstone shock mount has been solid for me, usually use it with a thread adaptor and a short RED arm.

Various usual furry & foamy bits complete the picture. No lav as yet, on my short-term shopping list!

Haven't invested in an A-box setup yet but considering it, see http://reduser.net/forum/showthread....05#post1033105 and subsequent posts for my thoughts on DSMC audio jacks (which at times have been unprintable!) I want a better solution than the A-box, still working on what it might be. I can honestly see me going to a wee offboard Tascam or similar just to bypass those bloody jacks!

    Mike -

ActionProducts Calypso with the XLR's attached is an elegant solution; feels like they are built into the camera, and if you add the front 15mm mount, the wires are completely hidden. The ActionProducts stuff costs more than x, so that's the only piece I splurged on, but I've been very happy with it.

Bryan, the camera has two mono-jacks hence only one speaker output regardless of the connection or mics used..

Do you have to use a xlr Y-cable between channel 1 and 2, to get this to work, or can the camera record channel 1 in channel 2 also? Have not gotten this to work yet.
