I noticed on the epic store page it says..

"Any collection or group of items placed as a single order that includes 1x EPIC brain and totals over $50,000 in invoiced value will receive the DRAGON sensor upgrade at no charge."

is there a date this took effect? Just wanted to check and see if my epic-m collection purchase qualifies.

Seems like wishful thinking Chad IMHO, I had understood that this applies to recent / current purchases, not retrospectively for M owners right back to the start of the programme?

I was told by my Bomb Squad rep that my Epic-M wouldn't be eligible for the free upgrade, even though I spent well over $50,000. It would seem RED is penalizing early adopters. I would love some official comment.

You don't have to be negative about it. You could think of it like you get to buy the upgrade, you get to have an EPIC, you get to shoot beautiful images, you get to help perpetuate the RED.com economy, and be a member of the society that pulls his own weight instead of always looking for a handout. You could have been born with only one eye, in a third world country. Thank God you can breathe, and your heart pumps blood.

Without starting a fight, I have to tell you you're completely missing my point. I appreciate RED offering this effectively for free, but I do not understand why it only applies to newer orders. I paid the same amount of money as customers who are eligible.
I'm only looking for a handout because RED offered it. Please don't read into it any farther than that!

Well I wouldn't expect it to be the same price bracket. $50k represents a certain amount of Profit for RED on an Epic-X. Epic-Ms cost more because they cost more to make so the profit margin would be lower on $50k worth of invoices. Also if you bought an Epic-M in July or August you should expect to make $6k in rentals/shoots by the time the offer went into effect. So imagine sees the reward for early adopters as "You got it early".

This could be a rerun of the whole Stages situation again.

I paid more than the indicated amount at the end of Feb this year... so, do I get a free upgrade too?

    Nope.

I'd love a free Dragon upgrade - but I'm not even considering it.

Simply, IMO, the 'free' Dragon upgrade is an incentive not to loose 'new' buyers... who may end up waiting for the Dragon upgrade... ie 'buy now & you'll receive this for no extra charge'.
