What is going to happen with the old sensors when red replaces the sensor in a upgrade camera? I presume red will not throw them away, just curious?

Assuming they follow industry standard practices, they get re-used as replacement parts for the RED repair lines or recycled into their constituent elements as needed.

Sorry to chime in the "Epic only" discussion, but I'm still very interested in Scarlet Dragon pricing.

A $6000 upgrade for a $35,000 camera is very reasonable, it is 17% of the overall cost of the camera.

When you apply this to a $10,000 camera and also remember that Scarlet "dragonizing" should be more expensive due to a need to replace some additional components along with the sensor, it seems that the upgrade cost will be closer to $8,000-9,000, which is almost a 100% of the cost of the camera, which is almost like buying a second body.

Though I'm sure RED will find a way to make this right as they always do.

In some ways it's worse. If they just released a Scarlet-D for $10k I could probably sell my Scarlet body for $5k and it would cost $5k to upgrade if they were the same price. So I'm actually paying an additional $3k for the privilege of upgrading. Then again since that would be seriously screwing us over I assume Scarlet-Ds will sell for more than $16k new, just like RED-Ones cost an extra $6k new with MX to make it worth while.
