I don't really know what happened, I was on my first shoot, the camera was treated extremely well, and was either in my hands or in a pelican case. Suddenly, while shooting, the screen displayed a "recording error" and the camera had to shut down. When rebooting it, it started normally... we rolled, and there was the same error again. We decided to take a break, let the camera cool down. After a couple of minutes, we started the camera again. It worked, but the touch screen was not responding. We were almost done for the day, so we decided the wrap.
I went home, turned the camera on, and everything was fine! Working perfectly. I even managed to switch the new firmware, record in different resolutions etc...
The morning after, we arrived on set, the camera started but the touch screen was not responding again. I tried to reboot, and the camera never booted again. I put the redvolt in, the red button lights up, I press it, the fans start, but the button stays yellow and doesn't boot. It never went past that stage again.
Have you ever experienced something like that?
I have one question though to you guys : I ordered the camera in the end of june, on RED website. I live in europe, so it was shipped to Pinewood. I went to collect it myself there... the camera's number surprised me : #0944
I see a lot of people getting #2XXX Scarlets, so I'm a bit surprised to have such a low number. Is there any chance it was a refurbished camera? Can they do that?
I don't know, I guess I'm just being nervous after investing so much money into it. I hope it gets solved soon! Any comments/idea is welcome! Thanks!
