Those Leitax mounts are pretty nicely made. I had Duclos do that mod:
As Bob mentioned, those Leitax mounts are very nice. I had Duclos do mine as well.
Keep in mind, if most of your still lenses are Canon, it's a no brainer... But, if you carry Nikons- Leitax also makes those, and RED Nikon mounts seem to be around the corner
These turned out to be 104mm fronts
Highly recommend leitax canon mount with the Epic TI canon mount + duclos 80mm and de-click.
The TI mount tightens the lens so it is very secure. I have the 70-80 mm Vario and on that mount I feel like it doesn't need lens support, butI probably will just to be safe.
I've been using an Arri LMB-5 Clamp-on MB on my leicas. Works fine to clamp on to the 80mm step up, but I plan to get an Bright Tangerine MB and try that as well as I don't want to put too much pressure on the lens focus mechanism.
Most Leicas have integrated hoods if you don't want to use a MB, but that limits their use.
As for FF, I would highly recommend the O'Connor DM with the cine knob. Works with every Leica R lens from the 19mm to the 280mm.
The nice thing about it is you can easily flip the gear to the front or rear, on either side. That allows you to reach the focus ring on very short lenses. It is very smooth and accurate in use.
I tried bothe the Arri MFF1 and 2 and neither worked as well.
LOVING my Leicas, BTW. On my first shoot with all Leica and no Ultras. I love the look, very sharp, yet dimensional, and no breathing.
Much nicer than Canon glass.
thinking about a set of leicas since I own no glass anymore.....can you guys post some stills or video links?
Check our Brian Goff's links on they board he has some good examples. Also in the lens tests section there are some too.
+1 on this issue. essentially what we are looking for is a 2" 77mm threaded 80mmOD extension tube.
or even buying empty 77mm filters and stacking them until the mb clears the bridge on the follow focus?
Another option is just getting a larger diameter Follow Focus gear... ? That'll keep the FF at a lower profile, which depending on your configuration, may stay clear of the MB.
