    Hey guys,

I got my Scarlet about 3 weeks ago, and finally got a Cineroid HD-SDI EVF that works with the Scarlet.

So I pull it out, power it up and plug in the HD-SDI cable. Nothing shows.

I go into the settings, go under Brain HD-SDI output, toggle it to 720p. Still nothing.

I change every setting, even the frame rates, still nothing.

I roll back the firmware and do a factory reset. Nothing. Upgrade the firmware to the latest beta, STILL nothing.

I contacted the seller, and he told me the included cable worked perfectly prior to shipping. He's an honest seller and there's no reason why it shouldn't be working.

Does anyone have the Cineroid HD-SDI EVF and had the same problems as me? Is there some setting within the EVF menu that I haven't checked yet?

Now it's got me thinking, if the cable works, and the EVF unit works, could my HD-SDI port be toast? I don't any any other cables to test with or anything that generates an image through SDI.

Any help or pointers would be welcome. I hope the HD-SDI port on the camera didnt break before I had the chance to put a cable in it...

Have you been diligent to restart the camera after adjusting the settings in order to test it? I had a similar issue - "no signal" into the HD-SDI monitor but trying various settings, being sure to restart after each change, finally got it working. Good luck!

Tried that too, nothing. Tried every setting combination possible, still nothing.

EDIT: Got 2 extra HD-SDI cables, to see if the cables were the issue, both of them didn't work.

Any support from the RED team on this?

The Cineroid's max progressive input is 720p. Did you try unchecking the hdmi and hd sdi, then re select just the sdi, then restart? Sometimes it's the monitor that can't catch the signal, so try turning off the cineroid until after the camera is up and running then vice versa if that doesn't work. Hope you get this figured out.

    Tried that too.

I've tried every single combination of ticking and unticking, changing each number, restarting both the Scarlet and the EVF unit... absolutely nothing.

Shervin, the only way to tell is contact red support with your camera log files send to them. RED engineering team will be able to tell if it's firmware or hardware problem.

    Fixed the problem.

For all you Cineroid EVF users with the same problem as me, if you're on newer firmware, roll back to the old one, then put your Brain HD-SDI settings to:

    720P, 59.94

That did the trick. It was probably a bug in the new firmware or something. Thanks for the support gentlemen.
