When using Shift ~ to maximize a view in Premiere CS6, and when viewing at 100% for a4K Quad R3D, is there a way to move the image around other than using the scroll bars?

Kind of like the hand when in Photoshop?

I don't have Premiere open in front of my but have you tried dragging while holding down the space bar?

EDIT: Actually, that'll just start playback, won't it... Oh well, it works in the drawing apps like PS and Illustrator

Yes, that's one of the first things I tried, coming from Photoshop.

The strange thing is that when I drag in the viewer, I get a 'hand' icon, but ... it doesn't drag the image?

There's probably a user interface tips file somewhere that I'm missing that explains how!

BTW - would anyone else like to have 3dConnexion puck support? That would solve this problem and many others quite elegantly.

The puck is natively supported in Photoshop, AutoDesk suite, 3dCoat, Lightwave, etc. - and it really makes life easier having one standard interface.

  4. #4 Dragging the clip around the window
    Hey Les,

Select the clip on the timeline then go to the Effect Controls tab and highlight/click on Motion....that should activate a cross-hair/node on the video clip in the window...then you can drag it around.

Chris - Your method actually changes the position parameter.

I don't want to position the clip around in the frame. I just want to be able to see certain parts of the clip that when I'm full screen are hidden on a 4K quad clip.

I can use the scroll bars, but that's a bit of a pain, as you must change each scroll bar. A mode where the hand icon appears (as it does when you click inside the viewer) and allows you to drag the visible area (which doesn't work) would be great.

Keep it simple. Just double click in the Program window and you then can drag the image around

That's not my goal at all. That introduces a permanent location change in the clip.

Let's say you have a 4K clip, which even at full screen on a 1920 x 1080 monitor takes up 4X the space of the monitor.

And you want to look at the detail on the clip at full resolution (100%). You may want to make effect changes, and observe the effects on a certain part of the image.

You can do that now by moving two scroll bars, and it will always take two scroll bars to get to the exact place you want.

Now, you can see the face at 100%, and see how the effect will affect it.

What I want to do is to drag the visible area shown, not by using the scroll bars, but by using a 'hand' on the image.

Select the "Hand" tool from the tool pannel.. The shortcut is "H"..

That's how its done in CS5.5, but I think its the same in CS6.

Excellent!!! That's what I wanted. I was confused as I already had the hand showing, but it wouldn't drag.
