    Hi, folks!

New lurker here, but I have a question, that I don't see answered in the other DIT Cart/Hardware threads (And many thanks to those who have contributed to those!!).

I was hoping to get a more solid understanding of the transfer workflow.

You plug the 1.8" SSD into the RedStation, via your connector of choice (e-sata/USB/Firewire), and offload multiple copies to your destination drives/arrays, which are then checksum verified.

My question is this: are you using standard Gb Ethernet (RJ45 10/100/1000M) via a Gigabit network switch to get to those Raid arrays that I'm seeing on the carts? Or are you using something else?
Do you find that to be a bottleneck?
And while I'm at it, are those the prebuilt, diskless raid chassis as built by QNAP, Buffalo, etc? Or do you buy the chassis and setup your own?

I realize D.I.T. is pretty new and that everybody has their opinion, which is exactly what I'm looking for

    Thanks in advance,

    -Eric

SAS and ESATA are the top two most common connections between computer and on-cart RAIDs. The RAIDs themselves are most likely Maxx Digital. They've got a really good reputation with REDusers in particular.
