Please delete this thread. Its simply a misunderstanding of the TV settings on my part. The reason 24p looks better is because the TV has "frame interpolation" turned on by default in the 24p mode and I turned it off in the 50i mode not knowing that I had to turn it off in the 24p mode as well.
I have encountered what's known as the "50hz bug" with my Panasonic GT50 42" Plasma TV. I'm using Davinci Resolve 8.2.1 on my PC with an UltraStudio SDI connected to my GT50 Plasma via HDMI.With 25p footage, I have to set my output in Resolve to 1080psf25 to get a picture on the screen. 1080p25 results in a blank/black screen. With the screen in 50hz mode there is severe jittering at the edges between bright and dark portions of the image. When I switch the playback speed to 24p and the output to 1080p24 the problem goes away and I end up with a great picture. My research seems to indicate that this 50hz problem exists with pretty much all Panasonic Plasma screens so I'm kinda stuck. My question is this, if I set the playback speed to 24 and the output monitoring to 1080p24 can I grade my 25p program like this? Besides the obvious difference in playback will it effect my conform and final render?
