You need to get the 50mm, most awesome. I also like the 100mm. ......I like them all, but if I had to pick out of the set, those 2.

he is more confused then ever now.

I personally find using higher stops on wide, so you are good with your zooms

    As for the primes...

I think 50mm is the most versatile and has amazing look to it.

    Then its 100mm.

    Hope this helped.

I shoot a lot of single person standups, and or holding or using hand held size product. I use the 35mm more than any other size.

I would say 35mm is a must, after that I like the 85mm.

I agree that 35mm is a must, but oh my, wide and sharp and fast lenses are extremely nice... I would certainly also add the 25mm or the 18mm (I guess used less rarely, but to great effect).

How often do you use a 85mm for your narrative work?

I would say the 85mm/100mm are great for close ups (singles). It's kind of a toss up... depending on how tight you like to shoot. I say a minimum of an 85, I often use a 100. I would also go with something wide and fast too! 18 or 25. You're now covered on both ends!

Good luck. I agree... if you can rent and try them yourself... that always helps.
