That's what I thought but the first RMA (similar to this) happened right out of the box. Since then, I've gotten 2 more cameras and this is with a new power supply from RED.
Welcome to the club Joseph. Unfortunately, it's not a club you want to be part of.
The random little coloured pixels and 'sparks' across the black image are nothing to worry about - its cosmic radiation interacting with the sensor and its not exclusive to RED by any means. You'll see them most easily if you run slow frame rates and long shutter with high ISO. The cleaner the sensor gets the more you get to see these - they're more noticeable on our Monochrome with its clean ISO 2000 and lack of debayer. How frequently do they occur? They're about one every ten seconds for me.
