24fps seems reasonable for cinema i should think , so if in theory this is possible why haven't we seen it enabled or is it pending? i thought there would be bottle neck issues with the data transfer rate to the red drive with 4k+ hence the optical module but this was to be 60fps not 24fps ....if only i could pull 24fps4k+ that would be phenomenal

I don't think you'll ever see 4k+ (I hope I'm wrong) with RED ONE, I seem to remember the Red Team saying that the extra pixels were already being used for the camera to work properly.

note that the viewfinder actually shows you the image from the 4520x2540 pixel array so that image size could be recorded (at least in theory) with appropriate firmware, although there may be limitations elsewhere in the system that prevent it. But given that it's really only slightly more than the current 4k image, I'm not sure how big a deal that really is, image-wise.

Now the "total" sensor array is 4900x2580 pixels but I believe everything beyond the 4520x2540 pixel range is optically masked off and used for internal functions such as dark level adjustment, etc. so those "extra" pixels cannot be used for forming images.
