  1. #1 External Backup Solution - Which HD to buy?
    Hey guys,

I'm currently configuring a mobile DIT workstation (Retina MacBook Pro + external RED ROCKET via Sonnet chassis) and might need some help in terms of choosing the right backup disks for on-set use. Actually, I was considering buying several "Lacie d2 Quadra USB 3.0" drives since they seem to be highly versatile (USB 3.0 and eSata ports etc.). However, I read some horror stories about hard drive failures and their terrible customer service.

Can anyone recommend another solution or should I go with these Lacie disks? It's also important to note that at least one backup will be given to the client.

    Thanks in advance.

for my studio (in office) backup i like the 5 bay hot swappabl solutions with port multipliers from MacGurus in Washington. They also have 2 bay hot swappable that i use i the field. you can then buy ANY Hdd you like....cheap or Enterprise drives.....

    Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the info. I have decided to go with the ICY DOCK external bay systems since these are available in Germany, too.
