If you live in the Los Angeles area and are interested in getting a sneak preview of the latest build of DaVinci Resolve 9, come along to tonight's LAFCUG meeting at the Gallery Theatre in Hollywood. One of our dailies colorists, Andrew Balis, will be giving an overview of the new GUI and feature set - see the link to the LAFCPUG site for more details:

    http://www.lafcpug.org/user_schedule.html

Not only will Andrew and ! be taking you through Resolve 9, we'll also be demonstrating it running on the new Retina Display MacBook Pro laptop! .. this is an amazing piece of engineering and combined with Resolve 9 offers an incredible solution for processing digital dailies and even final color.

Come along and see for yourself what all the excitement is about .... anyone who color corrects or processes EPIC .r3d files will want to know what this amazing combination can do for them.

If you're a member of the DGA, we will also be demonstrating Resolve 9 and ColorFont's Express Dailies at the DGA Digital Day to be held at the DGA headquarters in Hollywood this coming Saturday (July 28th) ... Resolve 9 and Express Dailies are part of our 'Dailies In A Box' service which has already been used to process the digital dailies on the world's first EPIC feature to use our new workflow - see the 'GEOGRAPHY CLUB' press release on our website for more details:

This really is a great time to be an EPIC shooter ... you will soon have two very powerful pieces of software to grade and process your 5k files!

Hope to see some of you tonight or on Saturday.

    Cheers,
    Neil

P.S. Before the NDA police (Jake and Mike) get their knickers in a twist (or panties in a bunch as we say here in sunny LA) .... please note that we have the blessings of Peter and BMD PR to run these events .. so kindly put away your "truncheons" and come along and enjoy the show :-)

If I told you the answer to that question, the NDA cops would get out their truncheons and beat the crap out of me! ... but let's just say, it's getting damn close .... a couple of more things to tweak and you'll soon be able to play with it to your heart's content.

The 'show and tell' at LAFCPUG last night went real well ... everyone seemed to be impressed with the new GUI and feature set .... Retina Display MBP performed flawlessly .... looking forward to the DGA Digital Day event this coming Saturday ..... RetDisp MBP and Resolve 9 is going to become the weapon of choice among discerning DITs, DPs and Directors.

Our colorist, Andrew Balis and i are going to be running some Resolve 9 training at our place on The Lot in West Hollywood on Saturday August 18th .... details will be posted shortly on our website ... just so you're prepared, if you want to attend you'll need to bring along a laptop with Resolve 9 Lite (or full) loaded on it (doesn't have to be the RetDisp) ... that way you'll be able to play along with Andrew as he goes through the new features .... there'll be an intro class for people who haven't touched Resolve before and a more advanced class for people who are familiar with Resolve 8.

Thanks to Michael Horton at LAFCPUG and the team at Blackmagic for making it happen.

    Cheers,
    Neil
