If I remember correctly the Red Rocket is a full length card and will not fit in it, correct? I am just looking around for portable rocket options to accompany my new laptop. I want to be a bit more mobile than using a xeon cart...

PCI-SIG spec for PCIe cards states the maximum length of the card from the rear bracket to the front edge of the card is 312mm (12.283"). "Half-length" is defined as any card which fits within 167.65mm (6.6") or less. The Rocket is about 8" long... Won't fit in this OWC enclosure. It is about 3/8" too long to fit in the smaller Sonnet Echo Express. OTOH, that Sonnet enclosure is designed for "half-length" cards and actually gives nearly an entire inch of additional clearance over the official half-length measurement.

Just got my Helios, put it my Atto R680 and hooked it into my rMBP after installing the card driver. Showed up like a charm and interestingly enough it reads and writes at 725Mb/s to my MaxxDigital Evo 6G 8bay raid vs the 650Mb/s it achieved in the MacPro... I did have it installed in an x4 slot in the tower but this is a pleasant surprise I will say!

What is the recommended procedure for powering a raid on and off when using a raid card in a thunderbolt chassis? Should I still power off the computer before hand or would ejecting the raid then pulling the thunderbolt cable work....?
