With redline tool to show the metadata of a R3D file, I find there two value settings:

    redline -i A003_C002_0909UC.R3D --printMeta 1
    ......
    FPS: 24
    Record FPS: 24
    ......

What's their difference? And in what circumstance, these two value are different?

    Thanks.

One of them is the project base frame rate and the other is the frame rate at which you have shot the footage. For eg. the project base rate or the playback rate is 24 fps and you have shot a footage at say 24 or 60 or 96 or 120 fps.....

    Hope this helps...

In secondary menu there is option to set the base FPS or project fps on which the project is being edited and distributed on TV has 30fps for NTSC region, 25fps for PAL region, cinema is normally 24fps.

record FPS is the actual FPS the footage was shot on

    example:

    Project FPS: 24fps
    Record FPS: 60fps

Lets say you record 60fps but when you play it back it will playback on the base FPS 24fps.

It allows you to know what FPS the footage is intended to be played back in verses what it was shot in
