Yeah, I was looking at eBay ones (they're less than $20 shipped.) And, yes, phantom power has been enabled since like fw3.0 or something... maybe earlier; there have been two official firmwares released since it has been enabled.
Anyway, that's excellent, thanks for the heads up.

I think the best scratch audio you can get would be a wireless feed from an experienced sound mixer, capturing the audio separately, using high quality microphones placed very close to the actors. A microphone on the camera records the area around the camera.
hey guys...using this with newset beta firmware...it works.

unbalanced on input1 +35 feeding with a active preamp and a beyerdynamic mce86 / very nice super clean sound!
unbalanced on input2 +35 withe the olympus. this mic has a cable and a clamp to set it on top of scarlet or at your mattebox.
if you wanna know more ask...i come from "sound" 8work years just editing and recording :))
Just thought I'd give you guys an update: Got an Olympus ME-52w, and it's pretty damn quiet/whiney/noisy... On top of that it picks up a steady stream of audio from the fan. It barely registers when I talk (you can hear it, but the meter doesn't really change from the fluctuations introduced by the fan) and is realistically only useful for hearing a clap-board.
