I wanted to give a shout-out to RED, and my Bomb Squad rep Tyler Dinley. It's one thing when you send an email full of questions to a company and they get back to you a few days later with answers. But when you get a phone call a few hours later, with an actual human being on the other end, ready to answer your questions and help you make the right decisions…well, that's RED.
In rethinking some of the rigging on my Epic kit, I had a handful of questions about how some of the various pieces all come together. My email wasn't marked "urgent." My potential order wasn't going to buy Jim or Jarred a new corporate jet. And my questions could likely have been answered by the users here. But before I even had a chance to post, Tyler rang me up and told me what I needed to know.
I'm no Soderbergh, Scott or Jackson. But Tyler and RED certainly do what they can to make me feel just as valued as a customer.
A camera is just a tool, and many of them would likely more than satisfy my very humble needs. But more important than a product is the company, and the people, who stand behind it. And I don't think you can do better in that regard than RED.
