I'm shooting my first Red (Epic) feature now, which is immensely exciting! I'd love to get some tips and help as I move forward towards post production and editing. I've never used Red footage before, so I'm trying to figure out what editing software, what workflows work best, etc.

I'll be editing the film and I've always done my editing in Premiere on a PC. What's the most recommended for editing Red on a bigger feature project? Mac with FinalCut? Is Premiere (CS6) fine? What kind of workflow goes well with this? I've generally done color correction in AE... is that recommended?

Like I said, just trying to figure out the best roads to be going down before I get into the edit. I don't want to get started and shoot myself in the foot right off the bat!

    Thanks everyone!

In my experience Premiere CS6 is incredible speed wise. Much faster than CS5.5.
And it allows you to stay in raw so you save transcoding time and space (plus you keep the quality)

For color grading you can use what every you wish. For example you can export your final sequence as an XML and import it into Davinci Resolve. Davinci works with R3Ds as well, so you still don't have to transcode.
AE works with R3Ds too, but I find it more time consuming.

You can also buy a Rocket PCI card for extra speed.

If you do use Premiere you might want to install the newest RED Import Server which has sound and RG3/RC3: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/redepic_importer/

But run some tests first so you know what you can expect.

What's the advantage of the RED Importer compared to drag and drop?

The RED importer is part of Premiere out of the box - it makes sure Premiere can read R3Ds natively (drag and drop)
The beta from adobe labs is just a new version that includes red color and gamma 3 plus sound.
