Two or three 3.3.3 questions (I'm very happy with this release, BTW -- just a couple of questions ....)
(1) With previous firmware releases, I believe the little red/green 'lanterns' that indicated whether a cable was present in the 3.5mm Mic-1 or Mic-2 inputs would show red if no cable was present, and green if a cable was inserted.
With 3.3.3, the 'lanterns' are green all the time, cable inserted or no cable. Anyone else seeing this ?
(2) Don't know if this happened with previous firmware releases, but with 3.3.3, if I have the Canon 50mm f/1.4 or the Tokina Canon 11-16 installed, and I use Scarlet to change f-stops, I'll see a small 'blip' on the audio VU meters as I hear the iris change. Don't know if the 'blip' is recorded or just showing up in the VU meters. May happen with other lenses, these were just the two I tried.
(3) Anyone else interested in being able to set unbalanced, balanced, or 48v independently for Channel1 and Channel 2 ? I have a lot of unbalanced mics and am thinking about getting an XLR + phantom powered mic. At present, it looks as if Channels 1 & 2 are locked together: they are both unbalanced, balanced, or 48v. So, how'd you managed to kit up a 'mixed' combination -- say, a Sennheiser EK2000 wireless receiver and a wired 48v phantom .... without frying something ?
BTW - using the EK2000 directly into the Scarlet doesn't work (at least for me). While Sennheiser swears the EK2000 receiver puts out a balanced signal, if I set the Scarlet to 'balanced,' I get no signal. I need to use what is effectively a stereo-to-mono cable and set to unbalanced. Then the EK2000 works like a charm.
I'm running an gunning, and want to keep the rig super light & super simple. So a separate power pack for an XLR mic isn't very attractive. And not frying the audio circuits is also a high priority.
TIA -
Serge
PS Scarlet w/ TiCanon mount.
