  1. #1 How to turn on output monitors? LCD, IKan SDI-OUT HDMI?
Can anyone give me a run down on the exact method from the Touch Screen to get video out?

Please forgive the noob question, but I seem to be having a bit of trouble just knowing when I have a video-out signal to either of these LCD displays.

The first is TFT that came with a SteadiCam Pilot I got a about 3 years ago. I never used it til now. It has the yellow RCA video jack that I connected to the SDI out with an adapter.

The other is an IKan I got shortly after but is also practically new. I connected this with with the HDMI.

However, I have no clue if I am setting up it right on the touch screen. I just updated to firmware 3.3.3 because I heard there were some issue with the signal out. I will update again to the 3.3.4.

I think it's something under Audio/Video>Monitors>Preview and restart, but I didn't get it right.

Then I did it once and had to use the Redmote to get it back. I would thing these display could handle the signal but I didn't see any literature about what the signals are.

Can soome guide me through the setup? Thanks

BTW, the IKan fiicks once or twice on start up of the Scarlet but that's it.

Here at the setting I had on my Redmote. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but to me, I wouldn't think that such a simple operation should be so convoluted on a high a high end camera. It's frustrating but at least I am getting the hang of my Redmote. ;-)

GTG!! Its working on the HDMI which is great but I really want the "yellow" video out (RCA or SDI?) working with the LCD for the Pilot. Maybe I don't have the right cable, because I really don't fully understand what is HD-SDI formats. Maybe it's not a regular video.

Anyhow, I can use this with my pilot or crane so I am happy. In this video I show the setting. It's not a technical breakdown , but it is an image capture of what got it to work for me. I was also able to turn the "Job's Joy!" on and off without a problem. Lastly, I disconnected the Touchscreen and was able to have control the unit with the RedMote and SideHandle. The menus are also on the LCD. very happy indeed.

I changed the ISO and the HDMI looks much better.

Your LCD for the pilot is just a regular analog video RCA, so hooking that with an RCA>BNC adapter is not going to A/D and down convert any signal. HDSDI is a digital interface.
You might be able to use a mini converter like these:

in your case it would be the SDI to Analog converter, although i highly doubt if this is going to be worth it, since the converter will cost you more than your monitor is worth, and you still are just viewing an analog SD picture.

    Thank you so much Jochem,

That is the last bit of information I needed regarding the Pilot's RCA input video jack. You saved me a ton of time today trying to make it work. I was about to start testing in an hour. So I will go with the HDMI and switch the IKan HDMI that is working with the TFT on the Pilot, until I can get a converter. BTW, I like have more functioning apparatuses to leverage the weight of the Scarlet than just dead weights.

    Thanks again for your expertise.

I see, so I would be better off getting an SDI digital monitor so that the signal would be the same. Thanks.
