Totally stable ... we've been using it for a month ... download it, install it, use, enjoy it!

Have fun ... you will never go back to 8 :-)

    The GOOD, simple:
Just off the top of my head, sound support on render, simultaneous multiple deliverables, log grading, support for other editors shortcuts, much better laid out interface, single click node selection, an ability to name nodes and on and on and on... The BEST part, as usual, the upgrade is FREE
BAD, only support for 4 trackballs BM panel in Log mode.

just testing it now, right after learning a bit of 8. It's a lot more user friendly, but I do need to get used to drop downs for certain tools instead of buttons that are in sight. Also, is there any way at all you can render out RED clips at full debayer without running into gpu memory problems? I don't mind that these don't work in realtime, as long as it works in the final render.

So far I can't say I like the new interface that much, filling one page with so much and it will quickly turn into a click-a-thon among icons and drop down menus, you won't have as good overview. In the end I think this will slow you down.
Some observations, when dragging the timeline marker under the image it's too easy to accidently activate the eye dropper and take a sample instead, resize the scopes panel isn't easy, etc.
Well, it's the first public beta, so I am sure it will improve :)

Robert A, You don't mention your GPU, OS, system config etc so hard to assist..... GPU memory when exhausted or near too exhausted is not reported back to the application so if you have the correct GPU drivers for the card and OS and you are out of GPU memory on v9, you need to consider simplifying the grade, lowering the res, or upgrading the GPU. This third party hardware limitation is out of our control but let us know your system details incase you have something amiss.

Hi Jake, Thanks for your feedback. i'm pleased you like v9 and that we can offer LOG grading. There are a number of new features in v9 that have direct control via the BMD panels. The 4th trackball for Offset has been available for some time and is now integrated with the LOG palette. We continue to add features to the BMD panels and so I hope you can one day justify that upgrade in your budget.

The GREAT: each Red clip can now have its own Red Settings. This makes life SO much easier.

GREAT: the new curves "larger zoom mode" - makes curves SO much more easy to work with and powerfully precise.

I was hoping most that the HSL qualifiers would have become a little less noisy - I still suggest curve falloff options, which obviously work so well in the "hue vs" curve panels and can be easily tweaked to not create noise (while being able at the same time to be very precise - in HSL we seem to have to chose one or the other, vague and less noisy or precise and very noisy - not both clean and precise). I also suggest a blur/choke option in HSL - the way it is now when we blur we seem to magnify the moving noise to large blobs, much of the time. Please guys, blur/choke is in many other software, including Colorista - it is very fast and efficient - check it out. Often you can SEE a particular color, yet be unable to get Resolve to pick it cleanly without tons of blur and added windows.

Generally I feel the HSL is the biggest weak point in Resolve right now - the least liked part of the software. Most colorists I have spoken about Resolve with agree with me, and in fact when stating a reason for choosing another platform, the weakness of the HSL qualifier is the reason that comes up most often. It feels like older tech that used simplified quick and dirty algorithms as a work-around when GPUs were much slower and more expensive, and when to-tape playback required the constant assurance of realtime. Now to-tape playback is more rare, at least it does not need to be straight from the timeline, and GPUs are fast and cheap. Time for new underlying HSL qualification math!
