Attempting to see how the GYRO data can be used as a 3d or 2d tracker. This would revolutionize visual effects pipelines and avoid hours of $$$ tracking costs. (I imagine this would increase data per second)

Would like to import into Autodesk Flame and run some tests.

Please, anyone at RED, know how we might test this or extract this info from the metadata or file?

    Best,

    Oden

Agree, 95% of the time. There are exceptions and time is money. Especially on Flame.

Although this would skip the process of tracking, hopefully (wishfully), all together. Shots in which a zoom and a russian are utilized, creating lens distortion and vibration, the tracking info in the file, combined with the metadata could be very useful. (automotive spots). The very best trackers get hung up on this, and sometimes tedious key framing is necessary by the flame artist.

Gyro data is approximate . If you do a pan and return to the same position the gyro data would not.
It can be useful as a hint for a 3d tracker however.

The 'gyro' info would hopefully establish the ground plane. Panning wouldn't make a difference. You'd always have overlap as long as there is a reference from a previous frame or marker.

Back on subject: Can we find info on how or where this info is stored? This would be amazing to have for complex or the simplyist effects shots.

Wouldn't gyro data only help establish orientation of the ground plane? It wouldn't know how far off the ground it is...

Not sure I'm following the thought. Personally looking for a tracking / gyro data that tracks ground plane. It wouldn't be track if there wasn't something to track.

Anyone have the answer to where this info can be found in the metadata?

I second this. The tilt/roll gyro data does not show up in redcine with any of the other metadata. how can this per-frame data be extracted?
