  1. #1 new leica mount
So I received the new Leica mount today, and in the box is a new sensor surround, but no info on whether this is a required replacement for use with this mount, or just a spare.
My bomb squad rep is out of the office until next week.
Any of you have any info on this one?

    thanks.

I would like to know if this opens up the lens options to below 35mm . . .
Not trying to start any rumors, but Jim did mention this in a removed post.

Yes what IS this all about? Got one of those in my mount too. Anyone heard what it's supposed to be for?

Oh bloody hell... now I'm looking at Noctilux... this is *bad*!

The part has nothing to do with using lenses wider than 35mm. It appears to be the exact same size as the original.

Okay, if this is not the solution -- which was far fetched, anyway -- how difficult is the solution to modifying the sensor housing for use with wider Leicas?

OK riddle solved... Bomb Squad says it's a 'modified port bushing' to 'prevent excess light from hitting the sensor', and it IS user-installable.

Goddess only knows exactly what that means, or why it's only needed with the Leica mount!

Stray light bouncing around in the chamber behind the lens has always been an issue with camera design. Mike, how is this "modified port bushing" different from the one you are removing? Full frame lenses, be them Leica, Nikon or Canon put much more stray light (area wise) than do S35 lenses, and therefore it stands to reason the "modified port bushing" is better for any FF lens. Is this the same port bushing that was shipped to Epic and Scarlet owners some months ago as a replacement for the one supplied originally?
