If you look at my account, you will find out i asked how good the green screen capabilities are (thanks for the replies guys!) a while back.
Well, i almost didnt buy the scarlet because of an image someone sent me. It was as grainy as anything, and really horrible to key. I also hear about people saying "Oh, the scarlet is quite noisy". Well, after forcing myself into handing over $17,000 (there abouts), i got a package in the mail which contained my scarlet.
I thought i would share a little test i did with it.
Shot on a canon 50mm f1.8, 320iso (some say shoot 800, but i find this to be noisy and if you expose correctly, unnecessary), 4k, 1/48, 24fps...
Green screen had no lighting what so ever (apart from the natural lighting) and they way i keyed it was (in aftereffects): 1. Dump keylight on the footage. 2. Select color. I did NO refinments what so ever, not even playing with the black/white points.
Also the footage has no adjustments (ie. NR, sharpening, etc)

    So anyway, here it is:

PS: It looks like the is a little noise from the 95.5kb Compression that RU does... But i assure you, the raw file is clean.

Wow looks great! Impressive slap comp.
    Light wrap and your done.
Oh and I noticed you have two focal points, the fire and the hero. Maybe defocus your background?

Here's some footage from the scarlet that was comped in a few days.

I shot everything in daylight, at 1/500th shutter which made the keying significantly easier in terms of dealing with motion blur. Also kept the lens at 5.6 (best performance at that aperture). Then, when the shots were being comped, I re-added in per pixel motion blur based on camera information.

Definitely couldn't have pulled it off using a 5d or DVX or any other compromised format. These camers are great for churning out quick comps.

Hey Tim and Monte, what type of green screen are you using? Polyester w/ foam? Muslin? I'm looking for a 5x7' green screen and trying to decide which route to go.

Michael are going to use it outside aswell? I like the foam material since it also anti wrinkle nice. But I dislike it is like a magnet to dirt.
