RCX - Camera Audio & External Audio

Hey everyone, another quick question to get some feedback. I'm working on a feature right now that's running two epics. I'm syncing and transcoding dailies into Avid and prepping the project for the lead editor (I'm the assistant editor)

When I'm in RCX, I pull an Auto Match on the audio and then adjust the slates per clip. Some of the shots have "Camera Audio", while I'm syncing to the External Audio recorder. I've disabled the camera audio for my exports to avoid phasing or sync slipping, MY QUESTION IS (I know, long back story) Is there a way that I can have the Track 1 & Track 2 audio default to EXTERNAL AUDIO instead of Camera Audio, so I don't have to manually switch it before I do my sync every single time? This is just an extra step that I'm trying to eliminate and I'm really just looking to see if anyone else deals with this or has figured out a work around. What I would like to do is import & bin my clips, then when I hit auto-match it defaults to EXTERNAL AUDIO for my playback & TRACKS. The playback is already setup to external audio, but the tracks still pop-up as camera audio and then I have to manually switch to external before syncing.

I know it's a long shot and it's just probably the way it is. Maybe a new feature in v16? :P

Hi Fred,

Thanks for the suggestion -- it's a good one. The next version of RCX will remember what audio tracks you have selected when you change clips.

David, Thanks for responding. What exactly do you mean "remember what audio tracks you've selected" ? So if I auto match, select External Audio, it'll stay on that throughout the process and the rest of my clips? That would be awesome. It always defaults back to camera audio and I don't even use camera audio. I told them to disable it on set but they said the sound guy wants it turned on for reference, so this just adds another *click* in my process. I disable camera audio and only use external audio for my transcodes, so really it's just basically hidden now.

Hi Fred,

I mean that if you go to the Audio tab on the bottom panel and select a Track, it will remember what you selected when you change clips. Provided that new clip has that track available.
The audio playback channels you can select on the right panel are totally separate, and should not be changing when you change clips.
