  1. #1 How do you export sound with picture in Redcine-x?
    Hi all,

I'm still a bit new to the world of RED. I thought I'd reach out to the community to see if I can get some answers.

Recently I brought some footage into redcine-x. I was able to sync the sound (which was recorded seperately) with the picture. The only problem was baking the sound into the picture and exporting it so that I can use the clip inside another NLE. I wasn't sure how to save and export all the files I had synced up.

I was able to sync most of it using the NLE's sync features...but I was hoping to do all that sync work before I brought it in for editing.

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

I should also clarify... I am trying to edit with the raw Red files. Not trying to export into another format.

    Thanks :-)

REDCINE-X, nor any other software can modify the original R3D files. If you're editing with the R3D raw files in your NLE, you'll have to rely on your NLE to match the audio to your video.

    Your options are currently:
    - Sync in your NLE as Grant said; since you're already editing natively in the NLE, there is no reason to use RCX at all. Just import the R3Ds and your audio files into the NLE and sync and edit there.
    - Sync in RCX and transcode to a format that allows baked video and sound (something under quicktime like h264, prores or dnxhd)

Hey David, it would be an easy implementation to allow exporting a trimmed BWF of the external audio track, and/or include the synced external audio track with an EDL and FCPXML export. The latter being more useful. Currently neither works.
