Being new to Premiere Pro, I wanted to see if the best method for zooming in on Red files is to use the Motion tab and just increase the scale. I have a 1080 timeline and need to bump in on a talking head.
Am I using the best method?

Before scaling, turn off the "scale to fit" on that clip.

Yes as Bob says, turn scale to fit off, huge quality difference.
