the premiere xml which crashed beta 1 now loads! awesome.
would be really great if the 'use sizing information' checkbox would work correctly. upon checking, it brings in the clips super small. i already submitted the xml to the resolve dev team.
also, has anyone checked to see if speed rate changes are respected?

I'm having a problem with Da Vinci 9.
I'm grading on my laptop (Mid 2010 Mac Book Pro, running 10.6.8). I only have this laptop, and no external screen. This is now how I would grade anything extremely critical, but for short projects that are web-bound, this is how I work.
When I turn on Scopes, the window is constantly in the way of SOMEthing. That's just the nature of the beast, though, and I can move the window.
Except I somehow moved it so that the top bar of the Scopes window (the only part that you can grab and move) is underneath the Apple Menu Bar. making it, literally, impossible for me to click on the top of the Scopes window and drag it anywhere else. Nor can I even turn off the Scopes window (the menu option for Scopes turns it on, but it does not turn it off. Same for Right Clicking the the Viewer window).
So, my scopes are currently covering 2/3 of my viewer window, my stills window, a large chunk of my timeline, and a good portion of the color wheels and qualifier window, and there is NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. I've tried a few methods that should allow me to hide the Apple Menu Bar while Resolve is active, and they aren't cooperating.
If anyone has an idea of how to fix this, I'm open to suggestions.
If Black Magic is still hanging around and listening, making it so that clicking and dragging any part of the Scopes window allows you to move it, seems to me to be the easiest fix. Alternately, a menu option to reset scopes position. Alternately not letting to go above a certain part of the screen, though that would mess up anyone that puts one monitor OVER their other monitor.

I can not try it because i am not infront of my computer at the moment but you can rotate the screen from system preferences to gain some more pixels. Hope it helps

nick - try changing you screen resolution in"system prefs" displays to something smaller. it will resize, and move windows to you can grab them. then once moved you can set your resolution back to normal

If you're using a disk based database you can edit the "User.xml" file (default location is /Library/Application Support/BlackMagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Resolve Disk Database/Resolve Projects/Users/<YOUR USER NAME HERE>) and delete the "<UiLayout>LOTS-OF-NUMBERS-HERE</UiLayout>" at the end of the file. This works for me, Resolve will simply go back to the default layout.
If you're worried about screwing it up just copy the file somewhere else or backup your database before you edit it and replace it if something goes wrong. I've never had an issue.

Nick, on the color page, open the projects manager and right-click in the grey background and select "Reset UI Layout". This should put the scopes back to the default position.

Thanks for all the suggestions, gang. "Reset UI Layout" seemed the easiest/best, so I tried that, and it worked. Strange that you have to open the Project window in order to get that option though . . . . I was going to try hunting down whatever config file stored the UI next, so thanks Nick for telling me where it is, if I ever need to go find it.
I do hope BM does something about it, though. This was actually the second time I did it. The first, I had about 1 pixel-width that I could grab on to. The second time, it was wedged firm and truly up there, out of reach. I actually could not tell you how I was even able to get the window that far up.

Another odd issue (now that I can actually see what's going on in my viewer). My Power Windows aren't showing the curves/points. The power windows are still doing what they are supposed to, but I can't adjust the points, as they aren't showing up in the viewer.
I can adjust the size and position down where the Power Window windows is, but I can't adjust it in the Viewer. Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm not in front of my computer, but I think its "shift + Cmd + C" to turn on the wireframe in your viewer and your video output. Hit it once to bring it back up on both and then once more to turn it off on your video output (will still be on viewer) so that you can color without it.
