Three new Compact Prime CP.2 Super Speed lenses with a T-stop of 1.5 might be what your looking for. They come in PL mount and Expected Availability is listed as today from B&H Photo but I don't think that'll happen.
Personally I'd rather go Canon if even though there only ef, the lenses their based on (I've heard) are better than the lenses the zeiss super speeds are based off, but i'm not speaking from personal experience.
I would like to see reviews of both sets of lenses. I dont know if the superspeeds are just rehoused zf's. I think with the superspeeds they aim to correct some of the flaws of the shorter focal lenghts especially.
The canons are promising too. The only thing we didnt like in the l series lenses were mostly mechanics. The mechanics in these should be fine so promising indeed.
Thats what i think. The current absence of a 35mm speaks for it (the old 35mm L will soon be replaced by a new version, i guess a CN-E 35mm will follow) as does the coverage of FF, EF-mount (no PL-version so far) and the chipping. But on the other hand, i have learned that Canon had good cinema-glass, the K-35s, a long time ago. So the CN-E's could be based on the Ls, the K-35s or maybe they're something completely new... Guess, we have to wait a bit more to know. ;)
While the L still glass is superb the design was not designed for cinema applications... Remember, breathing or lack thereof is not a consideration when designing a still lens. However, I would imagine that they go back into there archives to look up the recipes from the old K35 cookbooks!! Pepper that with all the broadcast glass experience and you have the potential for some incredible glass!BUT I NEED IT IN PL!!!
Exactly, I'm hoping they dig into the K35 archives on this one. Although the 11-blade iris is a giveaway that it's different (orig K35 had 14-blade iris)...
Hmmm, B&H says "Based on Canon's EF 85/1.2L II and optimized for cine-use" and so on...
I'm picking up the 24mm cn-e this afternoon and the 24mm L series on sat. I'll have some R3d comparisons from the scarlet. No scientific testing though just field tests.
