Davinci works best with TWO video cards. Please read the whitesheet on their webset in regards to optimal configurations. THe first message seems to indicate you need more memory How much memory do you have?
First off, it would be helpful if you state the specs of your system. It looks to me that the first message is about your system memory. The second one states that it works best if your system uses a GPU card for your GUI and a separate dedicated GPU for image processing (without anything plugged in) for full potential of the software. It will still work in your case, but it indicates you don't have max performance. I don't think the two messages relate to one-another.
to compare for example, i am running the GUI from my first PCI express slot (16x) with a NVIDIA GTS 450 2gb, then a dedicated NVIDIA GTX670 4GB in the 4th slot (16x), running on 32GB system RAM with enough PCI lanes on a 2011 motherboard.
I have 8 Gb memory I will install additionally 8 Gb so it is not a big problem. But videocard...Yes 580 is cerificated card but 680 has 1500 core and 4 Gb and more new then 580 so I think 680 can be use as 580 only as single videocard.
Intell Core I7
GTX 680 4 Gb
Essentially you need a second graphics card. One card does image processing, while the other handles the program interface. This can be a less powerful card - I use a GT 440, though BMD recommends a Quadro 600 or 4000, the latter being recommended for 3D work.
Actually with Resolve v9, you can now use just one shared GPU for both GUI and image processing. If you plan to do this, make it the fastest GPU your system can use. The 680 you have is appropiate. Make sure you have the correct CUDA driver. Note, using separate GUI and processing GPUs will be significantly faster.
In this specific case, are you using Resolve v9 beta 2?
