They also look like they'd make pretty cool light sabers!
These look cool. ANybody ever seen them in real life?
I used one on a shoot a month or so ago. Came in handy as a backlight/rim light, but IIRC they've got a built-in battery that runs down pretty quickly. It did come with an AC adapter. Quality of the light was good, but I seem to remember it being a bit off (maybe cooler) than the daylight it was said to be.
Certainly not a bad piece to have in the kit, but don't expect miracles from it.
Stephen, someone in town has one?
I'd probably use it just as an eyelight, seems perfect for over a matte box
I think the one we used was sourced from LensRentals.com.
And I think that would be a pretty perfect use for it, Shane. It's definitely a handy piece of gear, I just wish it had a better battery and was $100 or so cheaper.
Most of the complaints are from the price and low output. But definitely nice to have in your kit.
yeah $400 would be better for a purchase that I would never make any money off but may make my closeups better.
