    Peter/Rohit,

So, the access and ability to modify the Red clip metadata DIRECTLY from the Color Tab is gone, or am I missing something? I right click any clip on the timeline (Color Tab), and the older option is no longer there. I need to the media pool, right-click and the option is there.

If I am wrong, please let me know to correct my misconception and regain my speed on adjusting them in such Tab. If it is gone, can it be brought back? This is not a matter of personal preference, but a matter of loosing speed during grading by not being able to do it where it should be done, in the color manipulation grading section of the software.

Thanks, and I hope I am wrong...

Raw source metadata has its own tab in the same place as primary, 3-way color, & rgb mixer. The advantage is that you can leave it up while working through the timeline, instead of having to call up the page every time.

Luis, it's got similar to the Apple color, now each cuts can have it's own metadata settings. Big improvement.

Is there a way to reset the RED METADATA CURVES for each clip. Like, a clip has come in that has RGB curves defined in the RMD. Can I reset them in Resolve? I'm not seeing it- just the other metadata fields. What's the best way to handle this? Thanks!

    Eric,

We have been asking for this "on-command" RMD reset since Resolve was made available for Mac. To my knowledge, this is not available, yet. And I say yet since Premiere has a similar feature, so we know it can be done outside Redcine-X.

Let's continue to ask for it, and hope this will be developed within Resolve.

SO basically if someone has dialed in RED metadata curves in the RMD, before bringing the clips into Resolve, I have to load them into REDCINEX and reset the curves? I guess making a preset in RCX that just resets curves and LGG will be useful. LOOK-->EDIT LOOK SETTINGS and check the boxes for these parameters. Load XML into RCX, select all clips in timeline, and apply look to all clips. It will ONLY change these parameters on the clips and leave the rest of the metadata in tact. Then oad XML into Resolve and proceed as planned. It's an extra step that's for sure and it would be nice if Resolve could modify the RED curves and RED LGG settings or at least zero them out! Anyone from BMD in this thread?

    Eric,

My "abbreviated" answer to your question is based on the how V8 operated, and the fact that I have not seen V9 data or experienced that this has been changed: if BEFORE you load ANY R3D clip into a Resolve project you have modified it, and a RMD has been created (via Redcine-X, Premiere, other?), Resolve will read it, and will keep such parameters for the life of the project. The only metadata you can change (and by-the-way, does not update the RMD for the future, just internally for its project) is whatever you see display on the Resolve metadata pannel.

Again, once it is part of a Resolve project, you cannot go back to RC-X, modify them and update the RMD, and expect any change on the images in Resolve the next time you open such projet that uses that clip.

So, if you are not using the Cineon-look as your base point to start your grading (RedLook2 + RedLogFilm), and want to use what was acquired in camera as your starting point, you'd better open all the clips in RC-X, modify them (do a first light or full primary color correction there), save the RMD, and then, and only then, bring them into Resolve. Otherwise, to the best of my knowledge, Resolve V9 still does not give you full access to modify all those parameters.

That makes sense from what I'm seeing. It would be nice if they added the ability to change ALL the RMD metadata!

The is a button in the Camera Raw tab: "Apply Metadata Curves". I'm guessing unchecking that is what you're looking for?
