Here's what I would like to be able to do.
Sync audio in RedCineX Pro (this part I can do)
output as ProRes with multitrack audio (this part I can do)
edit new ProRes media in FCP7 (this part I can do)
export an audio reference file (what kind of file would that be? OMF reference file? is that possible?)
import into ProTools linking audio tracks to the ProRes multitrack files (is this possible?)

XML Pro is the closest thing that I can find, but it still seems to reference original wave files that were merged in FCP.

    Thanks for your feedback!

There are several ways to do this, but the way I know for a fact that will work is to do all your syncing within Final Cut Pro, specifically including sound reel (file) names. Once you're done, cut the project into shorter pieces -- assuming this is a feature -- like 20 minute reels, then export OMFs. There are accessory programs that will translate XML files to rebuild Pro Tools sessions and/or handle change lists, which is by far the biggest difficulty.

In my experience, I've only used RedCineX Pro just for debayering and creating files for editing. But as I say, there's several ways to do this. You could ask your sound editor (or post facility) what their preference is.
