  1. #1 Arrested Development
Having mainly shot with Epic on Spiderman and Underworld 4 3D I am pleased to talk about shooting with 3 Epics on Arrested Development (the reboot)

Mainly handheld with Angenieux 15-40, and 28-76mm zooms as well as some old Panavision converted Zeiss an Cooke glass we are fast and furious.

We shoot mainly 4K HD but use 3K for an instantaneous tighter frame and 5K for a slightly wider frame. (we shoot about 12 pages a day, so we have fast decisions to make)

No I would not use this method on a feature for a theater. Refreshing to use the Epic for more than just resolution. Also we have the full handheld wireless rig (see below and then the slimmed down rig for Canon glass and fast setups....

We have as out main rigs Epics with Angenieux zooms, Preston FIZ for focus, a Nebtek HD video transmitter, Clock it boxes for time code, Comtek sound receiver for scratch track sound recording and 2 V mount batteries to run everything..... (no the Epic cannot run all with only one V Black....

There is pretty much no project in the industry I'm more excited about the AD's come back. Really cool that you're working on it. Good luck and post updates as time (and the suits) allow!

Nice rigs! I'm really looking forward to this show! (not sure how long before we can watch it in Australia since we don't have Netflix though...)

    Oh that's just awesome.

Are you working on the feature film as well as the tv series? Or has something changed?

Peter, I have the same philosophy on Justified. Lean and mean. I walk around with my 5/8 allen and remove everything from the other 3 cameras that I don't feel is necessary. You'd be proud if you saw our rigs! Brought Jim to the clubhouse this evening and he loved it. More importantly eveyone welcomed him. You missed a good time. Jim carries magic with him. He is a rock star yet he remained very humble. I introduced him to Owen Roizman, Vilmos, Steven Burum, Alfonso Beato, Dean Cundey, among other top cinematographers. People know that the Epic is lightyears ahead of the early days. The Epic is sweet. I saw one that Jarred had that was white with maroon metallic bolts. Very cool. But I can't say anything else or they'd have to shoot me. The ASC welcomed Jim with open arms. They love him. He left early to visit a little girl who is having heart surgery tomorrow. Jim kept his promise, He looks fit and very healthy. Hey????? Where did you get your cameras from? I wonder if you're using one of mine? Take care, FRancis Kenny, ASC

Two of my favorite shows, shot on my favorite camera, right here in one thread!

Peter: The original Arrested Development used a style where the camera operators seemed to react to the actors almost after they started saying their lines, as if the operators didn't know what would happen next. I always felt that style was a big part of the humor of the show. Is this version of the show continuing that style, and how have you used your camera rigs within that style?

Peter, that is pretty sweet! Glad Epic is doing some TV and to say that I am so excited for this project is a complete understatement. Probably my all time favorite. Hope all goes well while in the trenches!
