A little Black Magic?

Is it feasible to do the conversion of Red's raw files in a dedicated hardware box? Something that could spit out whatever format was required in real time?

A box that could accept a one-light set-up to get the color in the ballpark to be tweaked after the conversion?

I would think a company like Black Magic would be interested in doing this. There should be a sizable market for it, perhaps around 10 times as many as there are Red Cameras. That would be potential sales of 35,000 or so, perhaps many more.

I just make pretty pictures, not ones and zeros, so maybe I'm asking for something not so easily or economically done, but both Black Magic and AJA make great little boxes and cards, quite affordable, that do work well and reliably.

Love to plug my Red drive or CF card into the conversion box, set the one light in the software, pull the trigger, and then edit away.

I'd pay pretty good money for a couple right now.

This box we discussed in length in some other thread few weeks ago.
Actually having it connected to the high speed fibre interface on the RED to get RAW RAW from the sensor at 60fps and let third party to come up with RED independant compressing tachique may yeald some unique results benefiting RED and RED users. This box could be used on other Bayer sensor or even CCD RAW outputting cameras.

Kind of open standard RAW format box that some third parties could explore conversion to all signals out there.
