ps: besides that, it will give company C and company S some chewing material regarding their upcoming economy-sort-of-pro-lines.
I can almost hear the noise emanating from their boardrooms at this moment :)

    Just in time. Awesome.

Will you have enough quantities after the announcement or do we have to wait a few months to receive our EPIC?

    Thanks!

As another person on the verge of taking the plunge into an Epic pool of goodliness, do I still need to set aside $50K to make the Dragon upgrade free or will this come down a little?

And you just made my birthday!

Jarred, maybe you look at a Red Rocket II...

But I have to tell you again. I am happy Red customer. I love my Epic and all my Red Stuff.

Remember.. it used to take us many days to make a camera brain and when we started production it was in the middle of a world-wide component shortage after the Japan disaster. Now component prices have come down, our team has gotten so good it takes a fraction of time to assemble and test the camera brain, and NRE is ( for the most part ) recouped.

All that good news means.. well, good news.

I guess it also means that since we are seeing this turn.. that every other camera company that makes their own stuff should be seeing similar reductions.. and maybe they will all do the right thing as well.

Not months.. But won't be 2-5 days like normal since there likely will be an influx of orders. I would anticipate a couple weeks after you place your order until things calm down.

    Thanks!
Me and my partner have lived on "beans" the last year to save up to a Red Epic. We refuse to accept nothing less than Red Epic. We love the attitude of the company, the boldness, the vision to not accept limitations like so many others comfortably do. Love the transparency with technology and now finance. Love the new generation thinking in using MezizlerModule with iPads, HDRx, Magic Motion, RAW etc.
This will give us a break and maybe we can afford to invest in equipment like pro tripods, 9" screen etc which will get us up and running faster. We will take our new baby to the deepest jungle of Costa Rica in the beginning of next year.

Once again, your team makes a difference on the creative world.

I'm guessing mfg/misc. price reduction still wont be quite as sweet as those BT Scarlets were though... ? I just hope it will still have been the best play to get BT and not new by the end of next week...

Is this only an effect on the Epic pricing or is the cost efficiency also effecting the Scarlet price?
I suspect that the pricing will be on par with the Red One and I think it it's a sound strategy to stop production of the Red One and replace it with the Epic as the main camera on the Red market.
It would be nice to see the last Red One, that would be a historical serial number, like the first Red One -THE camera that redefined digital cinema.
