That's always a biggie and a cost driver, but it's well worth it in the end. You've solved the major engineering challenges in releasing EPIC the first time; hopefully all future iterations of the camera will reap huge gains because of this.

Stealth Weapon-MG and EPIC-W with some vintage Contax-Zeiss and Leica-R goodness and some Canon and Nikon modern glass just for good measure.

Every new computer is more powerful than the last one for less money. The solution is a new model name.

I'm not into that. It is what it is.

I wonder if the Dragon upgrade is still going to be 6K?

I come from stills, have D1, D2, sitting on the shelf.. those are lovely bodies with crappy chips, not only is it costly to me, but also wasteful environmentally.

I applaud you keeping it simple modular, upgradable etc..

This news has me worried and excited simultaneously. But more of the latter. It would of been great to know Dragon specs/pricing for Scarlet at this point in time - would make a world of a difference in my decision making.

    Regardless, great news indeed!

Was out tonight shooting Squarepusher at Moogfest in Asheville. 5K HD with HDR. Def required for his insane lights -- 2.8 to 8 in 1/2 second. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just keep doing what your are doing. It is awesome. LOVE my Epic.

I bought my Epic just under two weeks after the 2012 price increases kicked in. I ate a solid fist full of cash on the brain and accessories, for coming to the party late, but I never complained. I did however stand in awe as I read some of the stage guys bemoan their package deals. I would have loved to have been in on one of those. But hey, it is what it is and I'm damn happy I'm here now.

    Viva la RED.

I don't regret buying for one moment and I hazard to guess there are few people here that took a direct Epic hit like I did. And you can count on me still being satisfied with my purchase after the price decreases. In fact, bring it on. I welcome the competition and the cooperation.

Let's do this. Why wait until Nov 1st? Makes no sense. Hit us with the good news and let's start the party.
